There was a time, not long ago, where a road trip in your EV was almost unheard of. It either didn’t have the range, or there simply weren’t going to be enough charging places on the road or at your destination. Add that to all the other pre-flight checks required for a road trip, and the task becomes that much more daunting.
Now, however, that’s all changed for drivers of Volvo’s Recharge models. They provide great range, to be sure, but a lot of what makes them such great road trip companions is thanks to an old friend: Google.
You see, new Volvos come equipped with Google Built-in tech, and that allows for a multitude of different features. You can access your calendar, your Google Play music, or have the Google Assistant help to plan your day.
You can also access Google maps with simple commands or via your Volvo’s touchscreen. That’s where we can really see how this new tech makes planning your electric-powered road trip that much easier.
In addition to helping you find your way to your destination, Google Built-in can also make use of the Maps feature to find charge places along your way, and plan your trip accordingly. Now, you’ll know if you’ll make your destination even before you set off.
After that, it’s just a matter of ticking off all the rest of the boxes when it comes to ensuring you have a safe, fun and relaxing road trip.
You’ll want to make sure that your tire pressure is correct – better still, observe your tires over a couple of days prior to leaving so you can catch any slow leaks that may be present. Secondly, ensure that your coolant is at optimal levels – summer road trips tend to get hot, so you want to make sure you’re A/C is in optimal working order – and finally, be sure that safety basics such as a first aid kit, reflective warning triangles and either a functional spare tire or a tire repair kit are all accounted for.
Once done, it’s time to enjoy a family trip in your Volvo Recharge model!
