Volvo cars have always been at the top of the charts when it comes to safety. The brand is recognized worldwide for its advanced systems, but also for its innovations that have led the way for a safer automotive world for drivers and bystanders. Every Volvo is equipped with a variety of safety systems that can protect, prevent and mitigate in every type of situation.
Here are three advanced safety features found in Volvo Recharge models.
Advanced collision avoidance system
The road is filled with distractions and unforeseen events. And having a second pair of eyes is always a good thing. Volvo Recharge models are equipped with the collision avoidance assistance function. This advanced system helps reduce the risks of the vehicle colliding with another vehicle or another obstacle by actively steering the car back into the lane and/or swerving to avoid the danger.
The most advanced passive safety systems in the world
All Volvo vehicles, including Recharge models, receive some of the most advanced safety system in the industry. For example, the WHIPS system that efficiently helps reduce the risk of whiplash injury if your vehicle is hit from behind. On impact, the entire front backrest and head restraint will follow the movement of the occupant to support the neck. There’s also the knee airbag which is deployed together with the other airbags and supplements the seat belt to help optimize protection.
Finally, the steel framework of your Volvo helps displace the impact of a side-on collision away from the passengers inside thanks to its ultra-high-strength steel.
Exciting things to come with LiDAR
The fully electric successor to the Volvo XC90, which will be revealed later this year, will come with state-of-the-art LiDAR technology and an autonomous driving computer powered by the NVIDIA. This new safety package will learn via over-the-air software updates and in real life driving situations, putting AI (artificial intelligence) to profit to allow the car to assist and improve the capabilities of a human driver in safety-critical situations. These technologies will also enable the Highway Pilot functionality for autonomous driving on the highway.
