The 2022 Volvo XC60 has received significant improvements this year. The popular compact luxury SUV from Volvo has indeed been improved under the hood with new powertrains that now feature a mild-hybrid system, an improved infotainment system, and a few exterior cosmetic improvements as well. All and all, the 2022 Volvo XC60 is a better luxury SUV than last year’s model, and yet it doesn’t change the features and characteristics that we loved about the XC60.
It is more efficient in 2022
The 2022 Volvo XC60 is now more efficient. The major change is that the XC60 now features two mild-hybrid B5 and B6 engines that replace the outgoing T5 and T6 engines. Volvo says the new mild-hybrid technology improves the XC60’s fuel consumption by about 10%. The XC60 with the B5 engine averages just 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres while the XC60 with the B6 engine averages just 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres.
City fuel economy is the most significant improvement made to the 2022 Volvo XC60 this year, but fuel economy on the highway is also impressive with an average of just 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway with the B5 engine, and just 8.7 litres per 100 kilometres with the B6 engine.
It has more power too
The engines aren’t just more fuel-efficient, they are also more powerful. The B5 delivers 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque which is slightly less than the T5, but the B5 also enjoys a 13-horsepower gain thanks to the integrated starter generator found under the hood. The B6 gets the same 13-hp boost, which pushes total horsepower to 308 and total torque to 310 pound-feet.
It is more connected
The 2022 Volvo XC60 keeps the same infotainment design layout, but it changes the processing system to a new Google-based Android system. This new infotainment system houses many of the same connectivity features you are used to seeing if you are an Android or Google user, such as Google Maps and Google Assistant. Of course, you can also use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
It is more distinctive
The Volvo XC60 has always been one of the most distinctive luxury compact SUVs on the market. This new model will certainly add to the already impressive flair of the XC60 with a revised exterior including new front and rear designs as well as new wheels and new exterior colours.
