A month ago, Volvo made a big splash with the unveiling of their all-new EX90. With a striking new design, advanced technology and a fully electric powertrain, it’s easy to see why this car has caught everyone’s attention.
However, when compared to its flagship model – the Volvo XC90 – there are some notable differences between these two vehicles.
Powertrains
The powertrain is the first and most obvious difference between the EX90 and XC90. The EX90 comes with an all-electric motor, while the XC90 has a variety of gasoline and hybrid options. The Volvo EX90 has an available twin-motor all-wheel drive version that is powered by a 111kWh battery and two permanent magnet electric motors together, delivering in its performance variant 370 kW (496 horsepower) with 671 lb-ft torque.
Exterior Design
The all-new Volvo EX90 is a completely new model. It's not just a redesign or refresh of an existing model; it's an entirely new car from top to bottom. Even the platform the EX90 is built on is new. This means that the EX90 is significantly different from any other Volvo on the road today. Additionally, the EX90 features an impressive amount of recycled materials. The new SUV contains approximately 15% percent of recycled steel, 25% of recycled aluminum and over 105 pounds of recycled plastics and bio-based materials.
Interior Design
Inside, the two cars differ even more drastically. When you think of Scandinavian design, you might think of clean lines, minimalism, and a focus on function over form. These are all values that Volvo has taken to heart with the design of its new EX90 car. The interior of the car is based on Scandinavian values of simplicity, well-being, and natural sources. The materials used in the interior are environmentally friendly and sustainable. The interior can be personalized with seven different "rooms", each inspired by a different aspect of the Scandinavian lifestyle. On the other hand, the Volvo XC90 also has a luxurious interior that is focused on comfort and convenience, yet the final product is different.
Overall, the all-new Volvo EX90 and the XC90 are two very different vehicles with different design elements and powertrains. Whether you're looking for an electric car or a luxurious SUV, Volvo has something for everyone. Despite their differences, both the EX90 and XC90 embody the best of Scandinavian design principles – from advanced technology to sustainability and comfort. So if you're looking for an unforgettable driving experience, make sure to take a look at both cars! Contact us today to learn more about either of these vehicles.
