The XC60 has been Volvo's bestselling model globally for years, and the 2026 version arrives with a meaningful set of updates and a feature list that earns its place in the luxury SUV segment. Here's what actually makes it worth a closer look.
The 2026 XC60 runs a 2.0L turbocharged mild hybrid engine producing 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It reaches 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, composed and unhurried, and returns a combined fuel economy of around 9.0 L/100km. A plug-in hybrid version is also available for drivers who want the option of electric-only driving on shorter trips without giving up range on longer ones.
The XC60 seats five comfortably with 965 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, expanding to 1,543 litres with the seats folded. The boot features a flat floor and a low load lip, which makes loading practical rather than awkward on a regular basis. For most families and active couples, it hits the right balance between passenger comfort and cargo flexibility.
Volvo built its entire reputation on safety, and the XC60 reflects that fully. City Safety is Volvo's collision avoidance system, detecting vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and large animals, and applying the brakes automatically if the driver doesn't respond in time. Blind Spot Information System with steering support is also standard, along with run-off road protection and oncoming lane mitigation. The XC60 holds consistent top safety ratings from both IIHS and Euro NCAP.
Pilot Assist combines adaptive cruise control with active lane centering. It maintains a set following distance from the vehicle ahead, from a full stop up to highway speeds, while gently steering the car to stay centered in its lane. It is designed for highway driving and reduces fatigue meaningfully on longer commutes. The driver stays in control and attentive throughout, but the repetitive work of highway travel is largely handled for them.
The 2026 model receives a new 11.2-inch centre display, Google Built-in with unlimited data access, and an optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 1,400 watts across 15 speakers. The Advanced Air Quality System monitors and filters cabin air continuously, switching automatically if harmful particles are detected outside. The interior doesn't announce itself loudly. It doesn't need to.
