Volvo took the wraps off of its brand-new 2024 Volvo EX90 this week, showing us not only the future styling direction of Volvo electric vehicles, but also giving us a glimpse of some impressive upcoming technologies. The new 2024 Volvo EX90 will be the new flagship Volvo SUV and electric vehicle when it arrives on the market next year. Let's take a look at what this impressive new luxury electric vehicle with three rows of seats has to offer.
Impressive electric powertrain and range
The new 2024 Volvo EX90 is built on a brand-new chassis and features a new electric powertrain. A dual electric motor setup powers the new EX90 with one electric motor on each axle and delivers a total of 380 kW (517 horsepower) and 671 pound-feet of torque. This provides immediate power and performance while also ensuring the stability of all-wheel drive. A 111-kWh battery is used to power this electric powertrain and Volvo says the new EX90 will offer 600 km of range on the WLTP European circuit. This means that the new EX90 will offer between 450 and 500 km of range. Moreover, it will be possible to charge the EX90 from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes according to Volvo.
Advanced connectivity, charging, and safety technologies
The new 2024 Volvo EX90 will serve as a flagship vehicle for Volvo and it is therefore packed with the latest advanced technologies from the Swedish automaker. The new EX90 features an interior that is designed in the purest Scandinavian form with minimalistic elements that create a serene interior. The centre 15-inch vertical display houses a Google built-in infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, 5G connectivity, and impressive Google apps such as Google Maps and Google Assistant.
You can use your smartphone as a key to enter and start the Volvo EX90, and once you are out on the road you will be impressed by the advanced safety features as well. Volvo says that EX90 gives you an invisible shield of safety that surrounds you on the road with the most advanced cameras, sensors, lidar technology, and radar to detect potential dangers, warn the driver, and interfere to prevent an accident if needed. The new EX90 can even come to a complete stop in a safe location should the driver not be able to respond.
Lastly, the new EX90 features bidirectional charging capability. That means that it has the ability to send power back into the grid and you can use it as a charging station for other electric vehicles, or tools.
