Here are three technologies that have incremental impact on fuel consumption. When used together, they can significantly decrease the fuel consumption of your Volvo vehicle without impacting the performance or the functionality.
Start/Stop
The start/stop feature is fairly straightforward. This feature shuts off the engine when you are stopped at a red light or even at a stop sign in order to prevent the vehicle from consuming fuel when idling.
Eco Mode
The Eco Mode function is a driving mode that Volvo drivers can select using a rotary dial near the gearbox or in the centre touchscreen. When activated, eco mode adjust a variety of parameters in order to get the best fuel consumption possible without having to sacrifice performance or driving pleasure.
The Eco Mode adjust the parameters of the following functions:
- The automatic transmission
- The engine
- The accelerator
- The climate controls
- The suspension
All of these different components are adjusted to their most efficient setting when Eco Mode is selected. You can think of Eco Mode as a facilitator, a function that makes it easy to drive in a fuel-efficient manner.
Eco Coast
Eco Coast is a unique function that disengages the automatic transmission from the engine in situations where coasting is possible. When you are going down a long hill, for example, and you have selected Eco Mode, your Volvo will automatically disengage the gearbox from the powertrain while you are coasting, saving a lot of fuel in the process by using kinetic energy.
