Volvo has always been a leading automakers in the field of safety and nowhere is this more apparent than in the number of IIHS Top Safety Pick+ models that Volvo offers on the market. Not only does Volvo offer numerous cars and sport utility vehicles to luxury car buyers, but Volvo luxury sedans and SUVs all shine when it comes to exceeding the expectations in IIHS crash safety testing.
The IIHS measures the safety of all new vehicles on the market using some very challenging and advanced testing procedures. These include very difficult tests such as the driver-side small overlap or passenger-side small overlap test. These tests measure how structurally sound vehicle is when coming into contact with an object on either front corner. This area has the least structural integrity and is therefore the most difficult to protect.
Nevertheless, Volvo vehicles do very well in this testing phase. To achieve a Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle must pass all of these tests with the highest grade while also getting the highest possible score when it comes to driver assistance features and headlight performance.
