Volvo Car Canada recently announced the highly anticipated launch of its extended range Recharge Plug-In Hybrid models in their 90 and 60 Series. This upgrade provides drivers with even more powerful performance, increased electric range and lower CO2 emissions, making them better for both the environment and your pocketbook.
Volvo's Recharge T8 AWD plug-in hybrid powertrain for Canada has been improved with a new long-range battery and more powerful rear electric motor. The battery increased from 11.6 kWh to 18.8 kWh, and the motor power increased from 87 hp to 143 hp, resulting in a total combined output of 455 hp for Recharge T8 AWD models. This makes them the most powerful Volvo cars ever produced. The extra capacity of the long-range battery is useful on cold winter days, as well as in scorching heat. Even when the car is not plugged in, drivers are able to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin remotely via the Volvo Cars app while maintaining an all-electric driving range.
Volvo is committed to becoming a leader in the premium electric car market, and customers are already taking advantage of their plug-in hybrids. With the powertrain upgrade, drivers will be able to drive in pure electric mode for longer periods of time.
This new powertrain is available on all Volvo Recharge plug-in hybrid models based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), including S60, V60, XC60, S90, and XC90 Recharge models. Additionally, there is an upgrade for the turbocharged T8 gasoline engine providing higher fuel efficiency and performance with lower CO2 tailpipe emissions.
“Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles play an important role in the shift to electrification,” said Matt Girgis, managing director, Volvo Car Canada. “These upgraded powertrains will demonstrate the many benefits of an electric future and will serve as an enabling technology that will encourage more consumers to adopt the electric lifestyle.”
It is clear that Volvo Car Canada’s new Recharge Plug-In Hybrid models are a major step forward in terms of performance and environmental friendliness. With increased electric range, lower CO2 emissions, more powerful motors, and the ability to pre-heat or pre-cool remotely via their app, Volvo has made it easier than ever for drivers to make the switch to an all-electric lifestyle. The upgraded powertrains available on S60, V60, XC60, S90, and XC90 Recharge models will no doubt prove popular among car owners looking for eco-friendly options with top-notch performance. We look forward to seeing how these vehicles continue to shape our future!
